Jackson Fregeau on the second wave of insurtech with Insurance Insider

June 18, 2026

Quandri co-founder and CEO Jackson Fregeau sat down with journalist Abbie Day to unpack what actually separates the InsurTechs built to last from the ones that will not survive their first hard claim.

The conversation centered on a safety net that used to exist in insurance software and no longer does. A tool that simply sped up a human never had to be perfect, because a person still made the final call. A system that quotes and binds on its own does not have that luxury. It has to be right every time, with no one left to catch it if it is wrong. Closing that gap takes more than a clean demo. It takes a willingness to sit inside the real mess of how a carrier or a broker actually operates, the kind of work Jackson said builds "a massive respect" for an industry that is far more complex than it looks from the outside.

They also touched on a shift this wave of InsurTechs is getting right that the last one missed almost entirely. Where the first generation built for carriers and left brokers out of the picture, this one is finally building for both. As Jackson put it, "you're seeing a huge wave because people have realized how important the broker is to the overall ecosystem."
