Insurance is information processing at scale. A policy is a structured set of facts, and the industry's work is reading those facts and interpreting them against the carrier rules, state regulations, and underwriting appetite that govern them. Most of that work still happens by hand, inside systems that were never built to be read by anything other than a person.
Jackson Fregeau argues that adoption is no longer the differentiator, since almost every firm has moved in a piece for The AI Journal.
What separates the agencies that pull ahead is whether their AI understands insurance the way an experienced account manager does, well enough to be trusted with the work rather than just assisting with it. Surface-level tools can make a person faster. A system with real domain depth can do the work itself, and that changes what capacity means for an agency.
